Join UK tech house producer Joe Bradley – more commonly known as Latmun – as he lifts the lid on the process behind his energetic, groovy production style. This course is a must-watch for anyone suffering from boring beats!

Latmun’s productions are vibrant, high-energy pieces that can make a dancefloor rumble, and in this class he reveals the secrets behind them – and even answers questions from a live audience as he goes. It’s easy to see why his infectious grooves, thanks to insights gained from his time as a drummer, have given Latmun the career of a globe-trotting DJ. But drums aren’t the whole picture – in this course, he also works through his vocal slicing and processing techniques, dynamics processing, and gives us a recipe for taking the edge off a tune that’s been made using only sample packs. 

Latmun’s grooves are stripped back and laid bare in this course, as he lets you see and hear exactly what elements go into his infectious drums, and how he times, filters and processes the kit elements to work together. You’ll also gain insight into creating unique vocal hooks, with his innovative method for working with samplers to twist an acapella into an unrecognizable melodic phrase. Not to be outdone by his sound design talents, Latmun also demonstrates processing strategies for basslines, including his technique of making sure his kick and bass parts fit and groove together.

Joe’s DAW of choice is Ableton Live, but you can follow along with the course using any DAW. He also gives demonstrations of the crucial plugins he uses within this track and his other work, illuminating techniques such as EQ notching for harsh frequencies, his alternative to sidechain compression using a volume shaper, his top plugins and processes for making his vocals thick, present and wide, and many more besides.

This course comes complete with stems and project files to let you follow along in your own studio – essential if you want to make his unique vocal hook creation methods your own. You can revisit the techniques from the course as many times as you wish, to keep the valuable insights coming.
